JULIA RIEDERER
A B O U T
Julia Riederer is a multidisciplinary artist and a founder.
Her work often includes elements of performance, sculpture, movement and sound in site-specific installations that invite the viewer to participate in the artwork, creating a unique and collaborative experience.
Together with the performance band die Fitten Titten she brings music from a feminist point of view into the club culture. As a co-founder of Kollektiv Klaus, she uses the public space as a stage to come into contact with people outside the art institutions. As co-founder, curator and artist of the One Mess Gallery, people become part of an expanded concept of art in larger performative installations. In 2022 she founded das.LOT - a center for transdisciplinary art and applied sciences in an old bread factory in Vienna, together with the association ECHOLOT, to create a space where artists can connect and try out new ideas.
Julia is a collaborator, working mostly in collectives with other artists and community members to create larger-scale installations and events. She values the power of collective creativity and the diversity of perspectives that come with collaboration, but she alsoenjoys working solo, where she can explore personal themes.
She also creates movements and choreographies as well as stage and costume designs for art videos and films.
